SECTION 2 - Storage

Any Member can place a green parking permit on their project. A green parking permit (that is not signed by a Board Member or an Area Champion) is valid for amaximum of 24 hours. Green parking permits are intended for things like gluing, paint drying or other short-term, critical project states. Projects should not receive a green parking permit unless they are in a critical stage. It is the Member’s responsibility to locate their project in an out-of-the-way area. Working on a project regularly, even every day, does not mean that a Member has the right to leave their work in or on a common work space when they are not present.
A green parking permit can be signed by either a Board Member or an Area Champion (2014-10-23 > ^65739a). An approval signature extends the amount of time a project can be left outside of private storage space. Signed green parking permits are intended for larger short-term projects. A green parking permit that is signed by a Board Member or an Area Champion is valid for a maximum of 2 weeks. It is the Member’s responsibility to locate their project in an out-of-the-way area and consult with an Area Champion so as to not interfere with other people and their projects. If the Member feels they need more than 2 weeks to complete their project, they should approach the Board of Directors about renting floor space. Area Champion's may only sign parking permits for their respective areas, signing permits for other areas, or general spaces is not allowed.Suggested Addition - This is the way we are actually supposed to operate and the intention of allowing area champions to sign parking permits
Any Member can place a red parking ticket on any project or item in public space. A red parking ticket identifies a project that is taking up public space without any indication ownership or how long it will be there. Upon placing a red parking ticket on an item, the Member completing the ticket form may also send an email, with photo attached if possible, to the Member’s Only Mailing List to notify others of the ticket.Any green parking permit shall be considered a red ticket upon its expiration. **The start date of the red ticket shall be the expiration date of the green parking permit.

Red ticketed projects, if un-claimed within 1 week 1hr (2024-5-28 > ^4164a8), shall be moved to an “Impound Lot.” The Impound Lot is an area specifically allocated for red ticketed projects. Pets:

Pets are a privilege, and owners are responsible for keeping their animals out of dangerous areas and maintaining a non-aggressive stance. Any member may ask any pet to leave the space without question. Pets should be leashed, penned or carried at all times in the MMS spaces. Owners are expected to immediately clean up after their pet should any accidents occur. Please be advised that, in addition to concerns about member comfort and allergies, there are often substances in the air and on the floor that may adversely affect your pet’s health. In order to keep things civil and respectful, the Board of Directors has adopted the following guidelines for discussions on the message boards and other social media:

Please refrain from name-calling or derogatory statements.
The group has no tolerance for discrimination based on gender, race, sexual orientation or religion.
Any conduct that the Board determines to be offensive will be addressed as necessary.
Serious issues, including violence, threats of violence, performance of illegal activities at the space, or performance of illegal activities using space equipment will result in an immediate suspension of membership, with subsequent action per the by-laws.
Other issues will result in a warning on first occurrence. Subsequent occurrences may be cause for suspension of membership per the By-laws. Examples of behavior in this category include:
At times, members may need to borrow a tool for offsite use to complete a project. While MMS does not want to have tools unavailable constantly, the following guidelines are asked to be followed in the rare case that a member does need to borrow a tool:
Tools can only be borrowed for member use only and should not be given to guests or non-members.
Small tools and hand tools only are to be borrowed (examples: hand drill, saws, clamps, hand truck, etc.).
The member should ask the Area Champion before borrowing the tool.
The member should post on the members-only Google Group noting which item is being borrowed and the anticipated amount of time it will be in use.
If the anticipated length of time the tool will be borrowed for increases, the member should update the members-only Google Group and the Area Champion.
If the tool is returned damaged or the tool is not returned, the Board of Directors will have the discretion to hold the member accountable for the cost of repair/replacement.
Tools should be returned to the space as soon as possible and the tool should not be borrowed for more than 7 days. Suggest changing this duration to 2 days.Rules & Policy Committee Recommendation

Alcohol cannot be stored in communal fridges per State Regulations.
Anything without a name and date on it will be fair game for consumption by any member.
Small items should be grouped together to prevent scattered and forgotten items and to use this space effectively.
Recognize that the refrigerator is a shared resource and please keep no more than 3 meals in the fridge/freezer.
Moldy, leaky, squishy, desiccated food may be tossed at any moment by any member. Any containers will also be tossed.
In addition, items will be purged on SID (typically at the end of the month between 12-5pm) Please make sure the labels are current and visible on this date.
Garbage/Recycling

The Board of Directors will treat your incident seriously and respectfully. The Board will never publicize your request or name without your permission, and the Board has zero-tolerance for members being retaliated against.
